37" inch tires on a 2" lifted fzj80 series with minimal lowered bump stops.

Just having fun with a game I call "HOW LOW CAN I GO" with my Lx450. It turns out the 1" suspension works well, but needs a little bit more bump stops which will limit up travel so we will end up with a 2" suspension & a 1" body lift to get the up travel I want of 4" up travel. I was running a 3" suspension and 1" body lift previously.

I lowered my Lx450 80 series

I lowered my rig. 

Why? 

I don't know, just playing a game called "How Low Can I Go"

In the front is the stock coil plus 2" coil spacers. In the back are a new set of 1" lift Tough Dog dual rate 220/280 coils. 

The uptravel is only like 3" so this is only a temporary thing.

It only sits about 2" lower, but look like more than that compared to the pics below.

1st pic is 2" of lift & others are with 4" of lift.

Turf-n-Surf 2019

We were only home for a few days before our next adventure South several hours to Oceano Dunes.
The annual Turf-n-Surf event was under way with a bunch of 80 series rigs running around like ants.
They have a Poker Run, Jump Contest, a Christmas Tree Light Parade & Main Camp has a big fire where people like to hang out at.
Its a great time.

Canada Family Trip 2019

I've been traveling North from Central California up Abbotsford BC.

My family & I are doing the travel trailer thing. As you might of read the last few posts making upgrades for the trek.

The 488 axle gears along with the SUMO 10% high gear set have been well worth the money spent. Greatest thing about the 10% gears is they do not effect the speedometer. Dont ask my why... ill leave that to the smart people to tell me... something to do with where the speedo picks up.

Improving Transmission Shifting

IMHO the auto trans is tuned more on the smooth shift side than I prefer. As lift, weight, larger tires, etc, have been added, it has moved more towards a slip shift end of performance.:frown: So, did a bunch of reading, talked to a trans tech buddy and have tried a few tweaks with good results...

My new Tuff Duck Seat Cover by Spector Offroad

After much debate with myself... replacment Lseat leather, Okie, Carhartt seat covers i went with the tried & true SOR Tuff Duck seat covers.
Just put them on yesterday... very good quality & fit. These no doubt will last a bery long time. Im glad i went this direction.

 

My way to do tailgate storage the DIY way

I thought about doing a tailgate storage a 100 different ways & went with the Poor Boy Budget DIY plywood way.
All 1 piece plywood traced out & a piano hinge, no latches...
Total cost $8.
Cant complain about that.
I need to line it with some Dynomat I've been told.

San Simion Family Trip

We did a family trailer type camp at San Simion State Park & did a scenic coastal highway 1 run up to Big Sur. My family has never been up that way, it was a beautiful drive. We did evening walks, campfires & smores all that great family stuff...

All that stuff is family fun, but i rather be on the trail.

Im glad my girls still think its fun to camp.

On the 80 tech side...
The Lx450 sits about 1" taller with the cut Slinky heavy coils over the Intermediate coils with same load.

The pic below has the whole family fully loaded without the load levelers pulled up.

With whole family & load levelers pulled up 2 links, which is hardly tight at all.

It sits good empty also...
